Thank you, Mrs. President, for this opportunity I’m Bashdar Arkan Ghazi from the Kaka’is religious minority in Iraq, a member of CAPNI Mrs. President, hate speech on social media is now pervasive and harmful. Through our monitoring efforts, we have become aware of many of these incidents, which essentially violate our rights and our dignity while also making us feel less a part of our country. We have recently noticed that religious figures play a significant role in the spread of hate speech when one of them labelled my minority group, the Kaka’is, as disbelievers in his religious sermons. This paved the way for my group to be the target of ongoing, deliberate attacks and targeting in the areas north of Diyala and south of Kirkuk. Therefore, I recommend to my government the following: • Developing proper plans and tactics to stop those who spread religious hate against minorities • Addressing hate speech by modifying school curricula • Ensuring the safety of local religious minorities, including the Kaka’is, so they can live there in peace. Thank you, Mrs. President
