Thank you. I'm from the CMN, a Catalan organization dedicated to promoting the Catalan national
reality and defending the rights of established people and nations. Today, I would like to underline
the fundamental principle. There cannot be no social question of peaceful coexistence without full
respect to the linguistic rights. Language is more than an instrument of communication. It's a
memory, it's imaginary, and it's the net that unites community. However, many of the thousands of
languages in the world continue to lack enough recognition. This is why we affirm that linguistic
rights are both individual and collective, and for this reason, the fullness of linguistic rights is very (….
….) linguistic community in this territorial space. When a language is minoritized or excluded from
the public space, the future of the people who speak it is also drained. Protecting a language is, after
all, protecting the dignity and continuity of a community. To advance this goal, we propose three
recommendations. First, formally recognize minority and minority languages and guarantee the real
presence in education, administration, the media and the digital space. Second, promote effective
protection and revitalization politics, established funding and support for intergenerational
transmission. Third, ensure the direct participation of linguistic communities in the decision-making.
With these steps, we can build more just, diverse, and really peaceful societies. Thank you.
