9th session of the Forum on Minority Issues - ohchr

Thank you Mr Chairman. I would like to react to the statement by the Union of Hungarian
Students of Vojvodina but first let us all remind us that the theme of the meeting is minorities
crises situations and that the current topic of the session is recovery from crises. We have
heard only a few statements, actually, on this. It is regretful, that the open platform of this
Forum is used for allegations by some participants here. Serbia has well developed institutions
for minority rights, good cooperation with national councils for minorities, and mechanisms for
resolution any open issues. Statements like this do not contribute to the aim of the Forum and it
raises questions on the necessity of streamlining of the mandate of the Forum in order to have
constructive and meaningful discussion here. As for the statement of the participant from
Vojvodina, as he pointed out, legal proceedings on the case of student admission in the faculty
of law […] is underway. And that is the right place for this issue rather than the Forum for
Minority Rights. Allegations on altering the ethnic composition in the province are absurd and
they do not deserve a comment. Thank you Chairman.
