My name is [inaudible]. I am here not as a politician, journalist, or expert, but simply as a Swedish
citizen, born and raised in what the politicians of my country call a “no-go zone”. It is estimated that
a Palestinian child is being murdered every 12 minutes. That means that 30 Palestinian children that
were alive before this conference began today at 10 AM are no longer alive at 4 PM. A genocide has
no justification. Genocide can never be self-defense. The on-going genocide in Palestine
orchestrated by Israel should already be recognized as genocide under international law. But due to
complex legal [interrupted by Chair]. This delay raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
My other disgust in my country’s politicians stems from their eagerness to maintain trade relations
with an occupying power. I am here as a human being. My blood is boiling. I am here as a mother.
My heart is shattering into 20,000 pieces. I say this at the UN house in Geneva, the 1st of December,
during the minority issues conference. I stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people. I emphasize
that I do not represent Swedish politicians. I represent the Swedish people. I do not represent the
politicians in this world. I represent the people of this world. So to those in power, listen to the
people. We demand a ceasefire, not a truce. You don’t pause a genocide, you end it. No one is free
until everyone is free. No one is free until Palestine is free. From the river to the sea.
