Inclusive Learning Center on Disabilities
Madam Chairperson, I'm (…), a secretary of Inclusive Learning Center on Disability Organization, I'm
honored to represent the minority Malay Muslim women with disability from the South of Thailand.
We are living in the area with long-standing conflict and unrest. Being a Malay Muslim woman with
disability, we are conflict-aware make us face multiple layers of discrimination from culture and
public negative attitude toward us. We are seen as worthless, a burden and not able to contribute
anything to the society. In fact, despite facing many barriers, Malay Muslim women with disabilities
contribute in many ways that are not recognized because of stigma and discrimination related to
gender, disability, religions, ethnicity, and language. On behalf of Malay Muslim Women with
Disability, one, we call on the Thai government to recognize the existence and contribution of Malay
Muslim Women with Disability to economic, social development, culture and to the peace-building
process. Two, we asked the government to recognize Malay Muslim women with disability and ability
to contribute and include at all stages of policy-making process. Three, we call on the Thai
government to implement special measures to ensure the representation of Malay women Muslims
with disabilities, removing barriers to ensure their full contribution to society. Thank you.
