Yazidi Worldwide Parliament
Thank you. In the name of [inaudible], I am standing before you as a Yazidi genocide survivor, holding
in my hand the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and asking why have my people never enjoyed
those rights. 11 years later, Sinjar, our homeland, remains unstable, and the consequences of this
genocide affects every aspect of our lives and the threat of future genocide is real. Our people have
spoken up about now about the future of our homeland. We are calling for the creation of an
international commission that aims to establish an autonomous region in Sinjar, under the sovereign
united Iraqi state, where we can govern our own affairs and protect our own indigenous identity.
Today, we present a historical expression of Yazidi unity, thousands have signed, survivors, social and
political leaders, professionals, and farming families, uniting in a way never seen before in our history.
Unlike the general call, this is a clear demand for security and an administrative framework free of
perpetrators who enabled our genocide. This initiative is a roadmap out of decades of suffering. The
international community must fulfil promises made after the 2014 genocide. ISIS and its complicit
actors tried to eradicate our people, and abandoning us now would be their victory. We call on the
international community to support the establishment of this international commission and stand
with us as we seek resolution for the Yazidi genocide, and help us prevent others. Yazidis must not be
forgotten, long live humanity, long live Yazidi [inaudible].
