CRIOLA Good morning. First of all, I'd like to thank you for the chance to take the floor. My name is Lia Maria Monsiqueira, and I represent CRIOLA, an NGO for the rights of Afro-descendant women in Brazil. Afro-descendant young women have achieved new tools for social change with cyber activities in social media. They have been fighting to construct a new counter-hegemonic and decolonial narrative. They talk about Afro-descendant religiosity, politics, identity, the criminal justice system, and sexual, reproductive, social, cultural, and economic rights from their own perspective. However, internet access is not a reality for most Afro-descendant young women in Brazil. That is, a large part of young people who transform their communities cannot access communication innovation tools for advocacy in a moment of loss of rights in our country. It's essential that the Brazilian state commits itself to the democratization of the internet as a form of social justice, recognition, and redistribution for young Afro-descended women in Brazil. Thank you.
