Thank you. I am Dezdemóna Kovács delegated by Romaversitas Foundation1, in Hungary. I will talk about the danger of antygypsysm23 emerging into the political discussion used as a tool to gain political power. Far-right political party called Mi hazánk Mozgalom organizes protests and militant uniformed marches at Roma settlements. The police continues to grant permissions4 of the marches and demonstration against roma, amidst the protest of roma and pro-roma civil society, pro-human rights organizations 5 and roma parliament. The police force does not implement section 332 of the Penal Code, which bans incitement against communities and the disturbance of public peace.6 The party declared to fight to have a memorial day for the victims of "gypsy criminality", demands collecting data on roma child birth rate, promising to voters a final solution regarding „gypsycrime”. Online and offline7 Intimidation of our communities reminds us of the roma serial killings taking place in 2008 and 2009 by groups of majority population with rightist beliefs after the term gypsy crime has emerged into the politicial terminology. We need the implementation of further legal regulations and police practices that specifically address the rise of anti-Roma sentiment in political discussion. I plead to the UN to deliver statements of the highest possible level regarding the unethical and endangering use of antygypsysm in order to gain political power.
