Stitching Ezidis Charity Association - Nederland Yazidis Foundation - Netherlands Thank you Mr. President, I am Hasso Hurmi, from the Yazidi minority in Iraq. As you are well aware the Yazidis, Shabak people and Christians face crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Sinjar and the Nineveh Plains, and the Kakais, Turkmen Shiites , and Sabean Mandaeans have their rights violated in their regions. In front of the scale of the human catastrophe, which we are being done until today in Iraq, we appeal to you on this international platform to support some of the demands of the Iraqi minorities 1. The demand that the international community put pressure on Iraq to repeal the second paragraph of Article 26 of the National Identity Card law, which was approved by the Iraqi National Council on 27.10.2015 and which requires the Muslimization of underage children of the sons of Iraqi non-Muslim minorities when one of the parents converts to Islam. This is a flagrant violation of the rights and freedoms of religious minorities; Christian, Yazidi, and Sabean Mandaean. 2. Demand that the United Nations and international organisations increase humanitarian aid relief. 3. Act to consider what happened in Sinjar and the regions of the Nineveh Plains crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity, in addition to intensify the efforts to liberate the abducted from the hands of the terror organization. 4. The protection of the cultural and historical heritage of minorities. 5. Enforce the decision of the European Parliament issued in March 2015 in regards to the international protection of minority regions in the Nineveh Plains and Sinjar and approved by the security council. 6. The demand of periodic monitoring of the minorities’ human rights in Iraq. 7. The situation of the minorities (Christians, Sabean Mandaean, Shabak) and especially the Yazidis in Iraq is very bad in all respects. Their protection is a duty for the nation of Iraq and the international community. We appeal to the international family for support, backing, relief and protection. Thank you for listening
