Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation Thank you, Chair. I’m honoured to speak on behalf of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization, an international platform committed to amplifying the voices of unrepresented peoples worldwide, safeguarding their fundamental rights, and ensuring their meaningful participation on all levels. Across the globe unrepresented communities are systematically excluded from decisions that shape their lives. They are denied their right of self-determination, and often misrepresented or entirely overlooked in the economic social cultural and political structures. Importantly, unrepresented peoples are not inherently minorities. They have been minoritized through historical social and political processes, yet their contributions are far from small. Their knowledge, perspectives and lived experiences are vital for building just, equitable and resilient societies. Equal representation and meaningful participation of peoples within decision-making processes are crucial for the welfare and sustainability of societies. Without the full contribution of unrepresented peoples, policies and frameworks frequently fail to protect their rights and reflect their perspectives, knowledge and reality. At the same time, their participation enriches governance, social cohesion and development. Inclusion strengthens democratic pluralism, enhances policy legitimacy, and ensured societies develop in a way that is truly just and inclusive. In light of this we urge member states and all stakeholders present here today to actively recognize, respect and value the unique perspectives of unrepresented peoples. This includes respecting peoples cultural, economic, social and political rights, empowering peoples through inclusive decision-making processes at all levels, investment in local leadership, and recognition of self-determination as foundation to building inclusive societies. It is through their active participation and equal representation that societies become truly peaceful, equitable, and resilient. Thank you.
