Julie’s Heart Cry Ministry
Hello Everyone. December 1st marks Karakalpak Language Day. As we celebrate, it highlights the
challenges imposed by the Uzbekistan government in eradicating Karakalpak language and culture.
In our own land, official paperwork cannot be filled out in Karakalpak language, and key government
positions in Karakalpakstan are predominantly held by ethnic Uzbeks. Although Karakalpakstan is a
sovereign republic within Uzbekistan, a 1993 agreement outlined a temporary 20-year union
allowing reconsideration. Last year, the Uzbek government brutally suppressed peaceful protestors
promoting a desperate call for international assistance from the Karakalpak people. Despite the UN
Human Rights Commissioner visiting Karakalpakstan, the Uzbek government’s manipulation
hindered accurate observation. Uzbekistan’s adeptness at pleasing western countries and
international organizations underscores the need for the west and the global community to
challenge Uzbekistan. Allowing international organizations to establish representative offices in
Karakalpakstan would be a crucial step. Encouraging the international community to open offices in
Karakalpakstan could potentially curb Uzbekistan’s actions, and protect the rights of the Karakalpak
people. I encourage the international organizations to come visit and make studies and you’re your
offices in Karakalpakstan. We are facing not only ecological and environmental disasters, we are also
facing genocide. People are being murdered, innocent people are being imprisoned, women are
tortured and rape. Uzbekistan is lawless, they have been getting away with all these crimes
