(q)
Continue and expand the work of the recently established Investigation
and Complaints Office for Allegations of Police Ill-treatment to prevent and address
overpolicing, the excessive use of force and surveillance by law enforcement officials of
those from marginalized racial and ethnic groups;
(r)
Ensure the independence of the Investigation and Complaints Office for
Allegations of Police Ill-treatment and that it is sufficiently sensitive to the racial
dimensions of many forms of police misconduct;
(s)
Ensure the consistent use of body cameras by law enforcement officers to
improve monitoring and accountability, making sure that the necessary privacy
safeguards are in place and that the use of body cameras is complemented by broader
measures to prevent, address and remedy police misconduct;
(t)
Improve monitoring, data collection and targeted measures to address all
forms of extremism, including neo-Nazi and other far-right ideologies, within custodial
environments;
(u)
Ensure that adequate resources are provided for the work of various
equality bodies to address issues of non-discrimination in schools and other educational
settings;
(v)
Strengthen and expand efforts to ensure inclusive, equitable and
anti-racist education systems, including through curriculum reform, mandatory
teacher training, improved monitoring of racist incidents and targeted support for
affected students;
(w) Develop and implement proactive measures to promote diversity and
inclusion, strengthen enforcement of anti-discrimination legislation, improve access to
remedies, and address structural barriers that limit equal participation in the labour
market;
(x)
Step up efforts to address housing discrimination through strengthened
enforcement mechanisms, improved access to remedies for victims and proactive
measures to prevent discriminatory practices, including through monitoring, testing
and engagement with landlords and real estate actors;
(y)
Continue and expand efforts to address racial discrimination in
healthcare, including through mandatory anti-racism and cultural competence training
for all medical and support staff and the integration of diversity and non-discrimination
into formal medical education;
(z)
Step up efforts to engage with social media companies to regulate and
combat hate speech and dissemination of misinformation and disinformation impacting
racially and ethnically marginalized groups.
