Draft decisions recommended by the Permanent Forum on
Indigenous Issues for adoption by the Council
1.
The Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues recommends to the Economic and
Social Council the adoption of the following draft decisions:
Draft decision I
International expert group meeting on the theme “Indigenous peoples:
development with culture and identity: articles 3 and 32 of the United Nations
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples”
The Economic and Social Council decides to authorize a three-day
international expert group meeting on the theme “Indigenous peoples: development
with culture and identity; articles 3 and 32 of the United Nations Declaration on the
Rights of Indigenous Peoples”, and requests that the results of the meeting be
reported to the Permanent Forum at its ninth session.

Dates of the ninth session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues
The Economic and Social Council decides that the ninth session of the
Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues shall be held from 19 to 30 April 2010.

Provisional agenda for the ninth session of the Permanent Forum
The Economic and Social Council approves the following provisional agenda
for the ninth session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues:

Election of officers.
2.
Adoption of the agenda and organization of work.
3.
Discussion on the special theme for the year, “Indigenous peoples:
development with culture and identity: articles 3 and 32 of the United
Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples”.
4.
Human rights:
(a)
Implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of
Indigenous Peoples;
(b)
Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human
rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous people and other
special rapporteurs.
5.
Half-day discussion on North America.
6.
Comprehensive dialogue with six United Nations agencies and funds.
7.
Future work of the Permanent Forum, including issues of the Economic
and Social Council and emerging issues.
