Stitching Ezidis Charity Association - Nederlands
Yazidis Foundation - Netherlands
Genève 24/11/2015
Thank you Mr. President
I am Hasso Hourmi, president of the Yazidis Foundation in the Netherlands.
I am not here to represent anyone but to represent the major humanitarian issue concerning the adherents of
an entire religion, which faces eradication. The whole world was a witness to the most repugnant crime
committed against the adherents of the Yazidi religion at the hands of the terrorists of the Islamic Caliphate
State (ISIS) on the 3rd of August 2014 in Sinjar, Bashiqa and Bahzani. It had significant disastrous results
such as murder, captivity, expulsion and the forced displacements of thousands of families to the region of
Iraqi Kurdistan, neighbouring countries and Europe. I have a documentary of director Nawzad Shekhany,
which shows the details of the invasion and which was presented to the Forum.
In terms of the documented numbers, according to the latest public statistics of the Department of Yazidi
Affairs in the Kurdistan government.
The total number of Yazidis in Iraq is: 550000 people
Displaced: 400000
Refugees: 65000
Religious shrines bombed: 42
Discovered mass graves in Sinjar: 21
The number of orphans (960) as a result of the invasion
Total number of abducted 5838
Total of abducted children 1527 female and male
The statement sent to the forum by Mr. Khairy Bozani, director general at the Department of Yazidi Affairs
and supervisor of the dossier of abducted girls and women accurately shows the numbers of human and
material losses for the Yazidi.
State of affairs:
1. The situation of the displaced in camps is very bad (Iraq, Syria and Turkey) with the spread of illnesses.
2. The flow of emigration is ongoing and children die on the road.
