Kurdische Gemeinde Stuttgart
Greetings to all, my name is Roka Shaddo, representative of the Kurdish
Community Organization in Stuttgart - Germany.
If we want to protect religious and national minorities in countries where they
are subjected to violations, we must strengthen the role of organizations that
defend the rights of their communities. This support remains incomplete, due
to the international community's lack of a clear and firm stance against
governments that commit violations against their people.
Therefore, activists as well as organizations are not able alone to continue their
activities in defending minorities in light of their governments devising laws
that would lead them to be pursued and imprisoned, many examples here can
be mentioned, and perhaps the most prominent and painful of them is what
the Kurdish national minority in Iran is subjected to by the government’s
persecution and the imprisonment of hundreds of them, only because they
opposed the ruling authority and rebelled against extremist religious politics.
From here we conclude that activists and organizations need supportive
international positions that stand by them, therefore we need international
courage to hold governments accountable for their brutal actions against
minorities. We need this strong denial primarily against the recent actions of
the Turkish government, following its brutal declaration of war on the national
and religious minorities in North and East Syria and its persecution of the Kurds
all over the world.
The Turkish government's war against minorities in Syria, has no justification,
but rather its goal is to eliminate the national and religious diversity that exists
in Syria. The same is the case with the Iranian government's war against its
people, especially the Kurds among them. These absurd wars increase the pain
of minorities and pushes them to forced displacement.
In order to succeed in preserving the presence of minorities in their historical
areas, the international community must impose real sanctions on the Turkish
and Iranian governments in order to put an end to their repeated violations.
The crimes of these two governments against peaceful people is like crimes of
the Russia against Ukraine.
