The author of the communication, dated 30 November 2007, is Maria de Lourdes da Silva Pimentel, mother of Alyne da Silva Pimentel Teixeira (deceased), acting in her own name and on behalf of the family of the deceased. They are represented by the Center for Reproductive Rights and Advocacia Cidadã pelos Direitos Humanos. 1 They claim that Alyne da Silva Pimentel Teixeira is a victim of a violation by the State party of her right to life and health under articles 2 and 12 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
