Minorities have always played a central role in shaping diverse, resilient, and peaceful societies, through their languages, cultures, skills, and lived experiences, their strength and society, and social fabric, and help build trust across communities. In Bangladesh, indigenous communities, such as the Chakma, [inaudible], and others have been at the heart of peacebuilding efforts, particularly through the 1997 Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord and agreement that still awaits full implementation. Their community-based peace committees have long promoted non-violent solutions to land disputes and identity-related tension for many of those groups, preserving language, culture, and tradition. Currently, Bangladesh lacks a comprehensive transitional justice framework for addressing minority-related grievances. As a result, reparations for victims of religious or communal violence remain inconsistent and there is an urgent need for institutional reform. We bring this to the attention of the UN to take strict action, the present government of Bangladesh to put an end to this situation immediately and to guarantee protection and dignity for all citizens.
