Helena Lupinc is pursuing a MA degree in Human Rights at the School of Advanced Studies, University of London. She currently works as a researcher at the Slovene Research Institute (SLORI) and is the Chair for the province of Trieste of the Slovenian Cultural and Economic Union or SKGZ -- of one of the two umbrella organisations of the Slovene community in Italy. She graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Minorities and Multilingualism at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, the Netherlands. In 2021, she co-authored the publication Le comunità italiane nei Balcani: storia recente e nuove traiettorie (EURAC, Institute for Minority Rights). She has also worked closely with institutions supporting migrants, women, homeless people and people suffering from sub stance abuse. Her current research focuses on the social processes entailed in the perception and development of minority identities, especially among the youth of the Slovenian community in Italy. She is also interested in how minority representatives use global governance spaces to claim their rights and seek international action. She regularly publishes in the Primorski dnevnik, and airs on Radio Trst A.
