International Maylê Sara Kali Association (AMSK)
Thank you, Madam President, good afternoon. Romaphobia in Brazil can be classified as structural and
secular. Hate speech has been spreading and gaining strength, both on social media and in the speeches
of members of the current government.
It is necessary to recognise Brazil's [?] without allowing the stereotypes that are spread daily on the
internet to take on political dimensions. The results of this wave of hatred amplify social exclusion,
ignorance, and concretise inequalities.
Today our organisation joins other organisations from Brazil and stresses to everyone that indifference,
Romaphobia and discrimination are not the heritage of the Roma in Brazil, and we call on everyone to
walk together against the advance of the extreme right in the world. We cannot passively accept that
another generation is condemned to the margins of humanity in the middle of the 21st century. For
equality we fight, and for equality and freedom we live. Thank you.
