Human rights Commission of Saudi Arabia on Item VI
In Arabic.
Thank you madam Chair,
It is our pleasure to participate in this fourth session of the Forum with regards to
minority issues and which focuses on the human rights for minority women. Even though
a large number of the draft recommendation still with matters and practices that do not
exist in the Kingdom and applied to its policies in the field of education and political, social,
cultural policies with regards to minorities in the kingdom. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
nevertheless participates in order to support international efforts to enhance the right of
women minorities and their protection. This a review of this practices and practical steps
in the field of education and participation in political, economic, social and cultural life. The
basis of government in the Kingdom is based on the Islamic Sharia and thus equate
between all citizens regardless of their origins their confessions or their beliefs it
guarantees equal opportunity to have access to education and participation in political
economic social and cultural life between men and women. Education at all levels is
available to all in all parts of the kingdom. Saudi Arabia has in particular focused on the
protection of the right of women to education and providing women full freedom in her
choice of the school institute or university. Whether these women are from the rural or
urban areas it also provides the necessary protection and care for women. Everybody
receives the same quality education. As for participating in economic, social and cultural
life the same applies as we have seen above in the field of education with regards to
equality and opportunity and support as for participating in political life Saudi Arabia has
taken ambitious steps that gave the right to vote for women in municipal elections and the
possibility of presenting her candidacy to the parliament this allows women to participate
the political life of the kingdom. These some of the best practices of the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia to promote the rights of women in general.
