Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen,
Iran comprises of six different ethnic groups and a number of different religious minorities. In Iran
political, culture and human discrimination against non-Persian minorities is institutionalised by the
Islamic Republic of Iran. Let me give an example, the Constitution states that the official language
which is Persian and the religion is Shiite, thi sconstitution therefore officially deprives other minorities
of their national and democratic rights. Kurdish children in Kurdistan are to this day are deprived of
their basic human rights, that is, access to educaiton in the Kurdish language, which is still forbidden.
According to international human rights organisations some 11 million Kurds live in Iran are deprived
of their national, cultural and human rights. The Kurdish minority in Iran is systemactically repressed
because of its national and democratic claims against the Iranian regime. To conclude ladies and
gentlemen, we ask this forum to submit to the Council of Human Rights the demand for the
recognition of the Kurdish language and the social and political rights of the Kurdish people in the
national context in Iran.
Thank you!
