Southern Mongolian Human Rights Information Center Thank you, Madam Chair. My name is (….). I represent the Southern Mongolian Human Rights Information Center. I would like to bring to your attention the ongoing linguistic and cultural erasure in the Mongolian areas by the Chinese government. In 2020, China implemented a new policy to remove the Mongolian language from entire educational system across the region. Today, the Mongolian language is entirely banned, not only in Mongolian schools from kindergartens to colleges, but also from public and social life. Mongolian books and publications are banned, recalled, and removed from shelves in bookstores and libraries. Mongolian textbooks are burned and replaced by Chinese one. All Mongolian schools are renamed and stripped of the keyword Mongolian. China did not stop at banning our mother tongue. Now China is literally erasing our identity and collective memory of who we are. Anything with Mongolian characteristics is erased under the so-called Chinese nationality common identity. Signs, banners, sculptures, and monuments with Mongolian features are taken down from buildings, parks, and public spaces. The keyword Mongolia and Mongolian are literally erased from art, songs, music, and social media platforms. This is nothing but an attempt to erase our national identity, not only from our collective memory, but also from the memory of mankind. This is nothing but a genocide, a form of genocide, cultural genocide. Mongolians consider this as China's final solution to Mongolia question, the finishing touch of China's 78 years of settler colonial project. China has signed a number of UN declarations and conventions. We urge the United Nations to hold…(point of order interruption) and a number of UN Convention declarations. We urge the United Nations to hold China accountable for all these atrocities committed in front of the eyes of the international community. Thank you. Thank you.
