UNDP plays a pivotal role in supporting overall efforts to enhance citizen security and the security of minorities by reinforcing the rule of law based on human rights principles and standards, and supporting reform of legal systems to address discrimination that impacts minorities. Improving community self-organization and participation particularly in local governance as the closest to populations, ensures more equitable access to services for minorities. We also help create livelihood opportunities and advance community and social cohesion efforts between minority and majority communities such as is currently ongoing in Myanmar.
