updated information and comparative statistical data on the quality of education in its next
periodic report.
56.
The Committee urges the State party to continue to take effective measures to
increase school attendance by Roma children, including, inter alia, through allocation of
scholarships and the recruitment of additional school personnel from among the Roma
community. The Committee requests the State party to provide, in its next periodic report,
information on the results of the National Programme on Roma in Latvia (2007-2009),
including measures taken in the field of education.
57.
The Committee invites the State party to provide information on the measures taken,
and the progress achieved, in making schools safe for all children.
58.
The Committee requests the State party to disseminate the present concluding
observations widely among all levels of society, particularly among government officials and
judicial authorities, and to inform the Committee on all steps taken to implement them in its
next periodic report.
59.
It also encourages the State party to engage non-governmental organizations and
other members of civil society in the process of discussion at the national level prior to the
submission of its next periodic report.
60.
The Committee encourages the State party to consider ratifying the International
Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their
Families.
61.
The Committee encourages the State party to consider ratifying the Convention on
the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol.
62.
The Committee invites the State party to update its core document in accordance with
the requirements of the common core document in the harmonized guidelines on reporting,
recently approved by the international human rights treaty bodies.
63.
The Committee requests the State party to submit its combined second, third and
fourth periodic reports by 30 June 2009.
