Ms. Graciela Dixon - Chair of the Forum of Minority Issues on Item VIII
Ladies and gentlemen we have completed the journey for which we convoked today. It is a
great pleasure for me at this instance after 3 days of intense work to conclude by thanking
each and everyone of you. Especially, I want to give special thanks to Madam Mika who
had filled in here with me to chair the evening sessions of this Minority Forum on
Effective Participation of Women in Economic Social and Cultural Life. We know that time
have been our greatest enemy, we would have wished to be able to invest much more
time to listen and receive the remarks from each and everyone of the participants who
had registered to express their particular situations in regards to discrimination against
women and in regards to the special situation that women are facing in each region in a
group, community, society concerning economical social and cultural life. However, we
have not been able to be as extent as we would have wished to because 3 minutes is
certainly very short time, 7 minutes for the first group exponents was definitely very
short and those who have not been able to make use of the time despite the fact they
were enlisted are definitely not very happy with the ending. Nevertheless, the Minority
Forum is open to receive all your remarks in written which will are going to be taken into
consideration and included in the final report and obviously you would also find a resume
of that final report on the web. It is great pleasure for me and extraordinary honour to be
here with you, and to have been given the opportunity to chair this wonderful Forum on
Minority Issues. Please, you may congratulate yourselves for your contribution to a very
transcendental discussion that is aimed to better the conditions of women worldwide.
Thank you very much for your presence here. Thank you very much for your
contribution. Once again thank you very much Madam Mika. Thank you for all the staff
and members of the secretariat for the extraordinary job that they have done to put out
this forum at the level of excellence that we have experienced during these three days.
And now I can formally declare the close of the third meeting and the forum on Minority
Issues.
