In 2024 and 2025, the [inaudible] Muslim community in Bangladesh has been subjected to a sharp rise in targeted attacks, hate campaigns, and organized attempts to restrict their religious freedoms. In August 2024, extremist groups capitalized the unrest. A mob destroyed 170 homes in [inaudible], burned the community mosque and offices, looted property, and injured at least 22 individuals, including a 16 year old boy, who later died from his injuries after months of medical treatment. Similar incidents occurred across multiple districts, [Inaudible] where mosques were set on fire, families were displaced, and individuals faced threats and harassment. The financial losses from these coordinated attacks are estimated at nearly 200 million taka. [inaudible] held an international conference in Dhaka on 15 November 2025 demanding that the government declare [inaudible], a non-Muslim minority. Speakers openly threatened that if [inaudible] are not declared non-Muslim [inaudible] would be announced. The situation calls for urgent action, ensuring protection for [inaudible] community in Bangladesh, along with all religious minorities, is essential for safeguarding human rights, preventing sectarian violence and exclusion, and upholding Bangladesh’s commitment under international law.
