Goodmorning, I am Loris Mazzorato, mayor of the town of Resana, province of
Treviso in Veniceland.
I here represent, in quality of president, the Committee for the Census and
International Recognition of Venetian People.
From 1797 the occupants have hidden origins, history, culture and traditions of the
venetian people trying to intergrate Venetians with other peoples removing their
dignity.
As a committee, we are here today to ask help to the international community in order
that the Venetian People should not be cancelled, remembering that there are more
fifteen million Venetians in the world.
Many Venetians infact had to emigrate and build in 'other countries communities,
preserving, history, traditions and language.
Paradoxically these emigrates now live enjoying much more freedom and rights than
Venetians that live in Veniceland. They, infact, can teach their history and' their
language. Language that was spoken in all the commercial meditteranean lands for
more than fourhundred years. In our schools it is forbidden to speak in Venetian,
counteracting art.73/a of the Charter of the United Nations.
During the first world war Venetians payed a heavy tribute with civil blood and
devastation of the territory. In 1917 humanitarian aid was prevented to Venetian and Fruilan populations affected
by a serious epidemic causing death to thousands.
Wars, prohibitions, cultural repressions and social marginalization ;did not sign the
end of a millenary venetian culture.
Recently other episodes of repressions:
1997, the "Serenissimi" only 'for having hoisted, without violence, the sacred flag of
Saint Mark on the bell tower in Saint Marks square in Venice, suffered heavy
convictions and\very heavy humiliations;
2014, 22 venetians, only for having claimed their identity and rights were arrested and
after investigation, released.
A clear attempt to intimidate Venetians.
Recently I also have been discriminated, prohibiting me the use of the venetian
language in the town in which I am mayor.
The time at my disposal is at an end and want to respect it but this prevents me to
declare many other similar situations in Venetian, Istrian and Dalmatian wiintries.
We are here to ask your recognition of the Venetian
