Thank you, madam chairperson,
I would like to thank the offers of the high commissioner which allow me to participate in the scholarship
program of 2013.
The republic of Iraq is going through a decisive dangerous transition. Unfortunately, we have (…)
causing problems by influential groups. This has given rise to consternation among all Iraqis. The Iraqi
government is looking for security quality and the abolition of certain laws which undermine religious
minorities. However, the reality that we are facing is better, particularly since 2003, this has had an
impact on the life of Iraqis in general and Christians in particular. Minorities including Christians, who are
expecting the Iraqi government to adopt certain law and pieces of legislation, including the law on civil
(…) of 1976 article 21 paragraph 3, and article 20 paragraph 2. These articles were (..) to the article
20 and 21 constitutional law. That guarantee freedom of belief and the principles of equality. We will
submit the following recommendations to the Iraqi government. While we are forming recommendations
17, 18 and 19 of the draft recommendations on the promotion of religious minorities rights. We call
upon the Iraqi government to repeal article 21 paragraph 3, and article 20 paragraph 2 of the
amendment law on civil states, number 65, 92 which were counted to the human rights (..) beliefs. And
we invite the Special Rapporteur to visit Iraq so as she consider the situation of minorities in general and
religious Christian minorities in particular, who are subject of ongoing violations of all of their rights.
