CRC UNITED NATIONS Convention on the Rights of the Child Distr. GENERAL CRC/C/BGD/CO/4 26 June 2009 Original: ENGLISH COMMITTEE ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD Fifty-first session CONSIDERATION OF REPORTS SUBMITTED BY STATES PARTIES UNDER ARTICLE 44 OF THE CONVENTION Concluding observations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child: Bangladesh 1. The Committee considered the combined third and fourth periodic report of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (CRC/C/BGD/4) at its 1411th and 1412th meetings (CRC/C/SR.1411 and 1412), on 3 June 2009, and adopted, at its 1425th meeting, on 12 June 2009, the following concluding observations. A. Introduction 2. The Committee welcomes the submission of the combined third and fourth periodic report, as well as the written replies to the list of issues (CRC/C/BGD/Q/4 and Add.1), which updated the available information and gave a better understanding of the situation of children in the State party. It regrets, however, that the report does not follow the Committee’s revised general guidelines regarding the form and content of periodic reports (CRC/C/58/Rev.1). The Committee appreciates the constructive dialogue held with the high-level and multi-sectoral delegation on the progress made and challenges encountered in implementing the Convention. 3. The Committee reminds the State party that these concluding observations should be read in conjunction with its concluding observations adopted on the initial report of the State party to the Optional Protocols on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography GE.09-43248 (E)
