Mr. Edward Arocicia Doss - On Indian Minorities, India
It gives a pleasure to say a few words about the Indian minorities. See,
India is a big country. It comprises of a number of minorities in India linguistic minorities, religious minorities. Among the minorities, the
Christian minorities are the most affected people in our country.
Our Indian Constitution says through the President’s Order 1950 para.3:
‘only the Hindu, Sikhs and Buddhists can get the minority rights and SC
rights’. The SC right mean Scheduled Caste origin. The Christians
scheduled caste origin could not get any benefits. Since the education
became the prir…[interrupts]… the education system the [elderly] people,
their parents, they could not get a job. Since, they could not get jobs they
had to send the children for jobs.
Due to this kind of situation, the young children could not go to school and
they could not enjoy all the privileges that the government. Especially,
further education for the children. Regarding the girl children, the girl
children are most affected. There is no specific program for their
empowerment and education. Our observation and our suggestion is the
government of India will amend the Presidential Order of 1950 para.3, all
the communities, especially the minority communities like Christians and
Muslims, they could enjoy the privileges of the Indian education system.
Nowadays, due to the lack of their inclusion in the SC origin, that means
Scheduled Caste Origin, they could not enjoy the privileges under all the
benefits of the government. Thank you.
