Speech by Chao YANG Dear president. I'm Chao YANG from Anthropological and China Union of Ethnological Sciences(CUAES). Recently, some reports from social media overseas in terms of China's ethnic policies are full of hatred and prejudice. As an ethnic minority in China, I behold such reports do not square with the truth. I'm from Bai ethnic group in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan province in China. My other family members have multiple ethnic identities like Bai, Yi, Tu, Lisu,and we live in harmony together. I have witnessed great changes in ethnic areas over the years. A kid in my neighborhood enjoyed the support from many policies including poverty alleviation policy, Dewdrop project, National Grant, etc, and was successfully admitted to
