Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture on item II 9th Session of the Forum on Minority Issues Thank you Chairman. Under this agenda item on minorities we wish to state how much we appreciate your statement that of the High Commissioner, the Rapporteur on Minorities and participants reports makes reference to the human rights situation of national, ethnic and religious minorities and language minorities also. Against the backdrop of crisis situations and warfare stemming from a denial of rights including fundamental rights for various reasons. The Special Rapporteur also spoke on ways to address this situation to combat all forms of discrimination suffered by minorities. How much are you aware by the major challenges of the region and the suffering endured by the Palestinian people, a minority in their own lands? Also in Bahrain where oppression is practices against the indigenous peoples leading to various upheaval and humanitarian crisis that is changing the demographic with attempts to transform majority into a minority. With the utmost silence from the international community, which has failed to take preventative steps. And also with the support of Saudi Arabia in spite the fact the Gold Cooperation Council is also remaining silent. Despite the humanitarian crisis faced by a large proportion of the population and a deeply worrying human rights situation in Bahrain. Violations have escalated in neighbouring countries also. And in light of this we hope that steps can be taken in Kuwait. Persons have been prevented from standing for election as Kuwait marks 55 anniversary of independence. Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture and also working with a triangle of international, we are seeking to ensure that the recommendations stemming from this forum can duly reflect what [..] from November 2015 session of this forum. Particularly when it comes to the ideal conditions to prevent discrimination against minorities there is a need to follow-up on the content of the Special Rapporteur report further the teachings of Islam are in essence moderate and there is a massive gulf between the different practices in the parts of the Arab region. I thank you for your attention.
