Permanent Mission of Türkiye
Madame Co-Chair, our constitutional system is based on the equality of all individuals without
discrimination. Article 10 of the Constitution guarantees equality before the law irrespective of
language, race, color, sex, political opinion, philosophical belief, religion, and sect or any such
considerations. Since 2012, elective classes are offered under the living languages and dialects
course. In addition to Kurdish, public schools offer Circassian, Laz, Albanian, and Bosnian classes. In
order to contact academic research and train teachers, programs of Kurdish language and literature
are offered in various universities. The Turkish radio and television and private TV and radio
channels broadcast in Kurdish. Madame Co-Chair, as a neighboring country, Turkey has been directly
exposed to all the repercussions of the Syrian conflict. Turkey has practically assumed responsibility
for almost 9 million Syrians on its own soil, as well as in the north of Syria, including the protection of
Syrian civilians and minorities, including Kurds, Yazidis, Syriacs, Druze, and Turkmens in the region,
against the attacks and violations of the terrorist groups. Unfortunately, the presence of terrorist
organizations, namely Daesh and PKKYPG, threaten regional peace, stability, and peaceful
cohabitation of people from different religious and ethnic origins. Thank you.
