It may be mentioned here that the relocation of Buddhist stupas, Hindu statues of deity, Islamic mosques, etc., was made to appropriate places with the consent and after consultation with the religious leaders of the various faiths. In cases where there were strong objections raised by the religious leaders, there were no cases of relocation. For example: (a) The mosque at Dawna Quarters and the cemetery in Mongwa, Sagaing Division; (b) The mosque in Yamethin, Mandalay Division; (c) The mosque at Eime, Ayeyarwaddy Division. 21. In conformity with the policy laid down by the Government to promote and propagate all religious faiths, the following mosques and schools which were closed for various reasons were reopened: (a) The school of Islam at Tawateintha Street, No. (4) Quarters, Thandwe (formerly Sandoway), Rakhine (Arakan) State; (b) The mosque in Myothit Quarters, Magwe, Magwe Division. 22. The authorities authorized rebuilding of Swanne Gyar Mei mosque at Min Road, No. (4) Quarters, Kalaw, Shan State. 23. Islamic devotees perform their prayer services at mosques five times a day peacefully. There are 66 mosques in Yangon, 64 mosques in Mandalay and more than 3,000 mosques all over Myanmar.
