movement or group (see A/70/335). Such disaggregated data would enhance
understanding of the phenomenon and help to identify effective measures to be
taken to address such crimes. The Special Rapporteur also recalls that the
importance of collecting disaggregated data is a component of target 17.18 of
the Sustainable Development Goals, on data, monitoring and accountability.

General Assembly resolution
96. In conclusion, the Special Rapporteur acknowledges the importance of
keeping the present issue on the international agenda, and he would like to
reflect upon the work he has undertaken in fulfilment of his mandate on the
subject, pursuant to requests made by the General Assembly in its resolutions.
The present report of the Special Rapporteur on combating glorification of
Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of
racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance is the twelfth
such report that he has been requested to present, on a yearly basis, to both the
General Assembly and the Human Rights Council, and he has always
endeavoured to fulfil his mandate with great commitment and understanding.
The Special Rapporteur once again reiterates his call to consider alternative
measures for continuing to pay attention to the phenomenon, such as
streamlining the reporting mandate into one for a single yearly report to the
Assembly, where the request for such a special report originated, which would
continue to allow for the collection of views through submissions received in
accordance with paragraph 47 of resolution 71/179. He therefore again
expresses the hope that the Assembly will consider his suggestions in its
deliberations and in any future resolution on the topic.
