Matters calling for action by the Economic and Social

Draft decisions recommended by the Permanent Forum for
adoption by the Council
1.
The Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues recommends to the Economic and
Social Council the adoption of the following draft decisions:
Draft decision I
International expert group meeting on the theme “Indigenous peoples,
business, autonomy and the human rights principles of due diligence,
including free, prior and informed consent”
The Economic and Social Council decides to authorize a three-day
international expert group meeting on the theme “Indigenous peoples, business,
autonomy and the human rights principles of due diligence, including free, prior
and informed consent”.
Draft decision II
Venue and dates of the twenty-first session of the Permanent Forum on
Indigenous Issues
The Economic and Social Council decides that the twenty-first session of
the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues shall be held at United Nations
Headquarters from 25 April to 6 May 2022.
Draft decision III
Report of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues on its twentieth
session and provisional agenda of its twenty-first session
The Economic and Social Council:
(a) Takes note of the report of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous
Issues on its twentieth session; 1
(b) Approves the provisional agenda of the twenty-first session of the
Permanent Forum as set out below:
1.
Election of officers.
2.
Adoption of the agenda and organization of work.
3.
Discussion on the theme “Indigenous peoples, business, autonomy
and the human rights principles of due diligence, including free, prior
and informed consent”.
4.
Discussion on the six mandated areas of the Permanent Forum
(economic and social development, culture, environment, education,
health and human rights), with reference to the United Nations
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the outcome
document of the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples and the
2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
