Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF)
The Kurdistan region of Iraq is a place of coexistence and diverse society, which has promoted
minority rights and inclusion in the region by adapting a multifaceted approach. Legislative
measures, educational initiatives, and fostering cultural understanding are the key components of a
building a healthy society in Kurdistan. Establishing and enforcing an antidiscrimination law has
provided the legal framework for protecting minority rights, which includes Christian, [inaudible],
Yazidi, and other religious minorities. Additionally, the educational program that celebrates diversity
and teaches tolerance has helped breakdown stereotypes and promoted inclusion. The Kurdistan
Regional Government (KRG) is in partnership with civil society and NGOs, including Barzani Charity
Foundation, have created a social and political environment where all voices are heard and
respected, regardless of their ethnicity or background. Ongoing dialogue and collaboration between
different communities has also contributed to a more harmonious and inclusive society. Here are
some of the key positive examples that the KRI Kurdistan Region of Iraq has focused on to foster
inclusion and support society:
Representation: the Kurdistan region has ensured diverse representation in various fields,
such as politics, business, media and education
Equal opportunities: adopting policies, which ensure equal opportunities for everyone
regardless of their background
Cultural awareness and education promotes cultural awareness and education
Antidiscrimination policy: the law has been put in place to enforce and strengthen the
antidiscrimination law and policy
