The efforts to produce a curriculum for schools on the teaching of religions can be extremely useful in order to further strengthen the general level of religious tolerance that exists in Azerbaijan. It should be fully supported by all parts of the Government and shared with other countries that are looking for a model curriculum. 106. Finally, and in order to implement a number of these recommendations, the Special Rapporteur stresses the need for the Government to take all appropriate steps to strengthen the independence and neutrality of the judiciary. Other “Khatchkars” were allegedly removed by truck to unknown destinations. Similar destruction is reported to have taken place in November 1998 (see A/58/296, para. 16). -----
