Statement of the Argentine Republic 9th Session of Minorities Forum The Argentine Republic welcomes Mr Mario Yutzis, President of the Ninth Forum on Minority Rights and the panellists. Nowadays, we face one of the greatest humanitarian emergencies of our times, where displaced people, asylum seekers and refugees face a serious vulnerability situation. In this way, we emphasize the importance of this year Forum’s theme, as well as the need for the international community to anticipate possible conflict or disaster situations and the consequences that these could lead to general population, and particularly, to the minorities. Argentine considers that, given the current context, the adoption of a broader approach that embraces a wide range of systemic precautionary measures addressing this type of crises is needed, especially starting with awareness of minorities’ human rights among majority groups. Therefore, we consider necessary to turn prevention into an essential part of our comprehensive focus both in national and international politics. Than you.
