67/79. Sustainable fisheries, including through the 1995
Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions
of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
of 10 December 1982 relating to the Conservation and
Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly
Migratory Fish Stocks, and related instruments
The General Assembly,
Reaffirming its annual resolutions on sustainable fisheries, including resolution
66/68 of 6 December 2011, and other relevant resolutions,
Recalling the relevant provisions of the United Nations Convention on the
Law of the Sea (the Convention), 1 and bearing in mind the relationship between the
Convention and the 1995 Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions of the
United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 relating to
the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory
Fish Stocks (the Agreement), 2
Noting with appreciation the activities organized by the Secretary-General to
mark the commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the opening for signature of
the Convention, in cooperation with States, United Nations agencies, funds and
programmes, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and other
relevant bodies, and welcoming the Declaration on the thirtieth anniversary of the
opening for signature of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea,
adopted by States Parties to the Convention at their twenty-second Meeting, 3
Welcoming the ratifications of and accessions to the Agreement and the fact
that a growing number of States, entities referred to in the Convention and in
article 1, paragraph 2 (b), of the Agreement, and subregional and regional fisheries
