Improvement of the situation of women and girls in rural areas A/RES/72/148 8. Takes note of the multi-year programme of work of the Commission on the Status of Women, 17 according to which the priority theme of its sixty-second session is “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls”; 9. Invites Governments, relevant international organizations and the specialized agencies to continue to observe the International Day of Rural Women annually, on 15 October, as proclaimed by the General Assembly in its resolution 62/136; 10.
