There is a lack of detailed information available regarding the overall situation of Batwa, their population, the location of distinct communities and their socioeconomic position. To fully understand their problems and respond appropriately, it is necessary for the Government to undertake further research of both a quantitative and qualitative nature. The plan (part of the National Social Protection Strategy) to tabulate socio-economic data by ethnicity should be implemented urgently and the results made widely accessible. 104. The Government should act on the analysis and recommendations contained in the Senate’s Report on the Living Conditions of Some Rwandans Disadvantaged Throughout History and other relevant Government and civil society reports. 23
