Thank you Chair. A total of 1807 Tamil riots were registered in different parts of India during
2018 to 2020. in 2020, there were a total of 2804. The highest ever [inaudible] number of
instances of violence were recorded in 2022. Until November 21st, 511 acts of violence were
recorded by the United Christian Forum. With [inaudible] leading the way with cases. A total
of 296 hate crime cases were recorded, out of which 194 were against the Muslims, 95
against the Christians, and 7 against the Sikhs. In the national register of citizens in Assam,
approximately 1.9 million Persons were omitted from the list. Approximately 700.000 muslim
residents of Assam are at risk of being stripped of citizenship. It is unclear how those
excluded can be reinstated. The state has not spared even human rights activists belonging
to the minorities. [inaudible] a 83 year old priest has been incarcerated under the unlawful
Activities Prevention Act and died in prison without facing a trial. In Sri Lanka, the majority
Tamil population in the north and east are systematically reduced to the state of becoming a
minority in the state sponsored schemes. The continued use of the prevention of terrorism
act, land grab in the Tamil areas, and large scale militarization has rendered the Tamils
voice-less after the gruesome genocide of 2009. We urge the UNRC to immediately step in
and act swiftly to prevent the extinction of minority communities in India and Sri Lanka and
enforce the UN instruments. Thank you.
