Agence Kabyle de l’Environnement (AKE) Madame Chair, respected board, distinguished delegates. Kabyle people are victims of genocide, perpetrated by Algeria. For decades, Kabylia has endured systematic repression, forced disappearances, assassinations, criminal arson, ecological destruction, and the erasure of our language and culture. This project, known as Zero Kabyle, aims to eliminate the Kabyle identity by the [inaudible] of the Genocide Convention. Building trust and social cohesion is impossible while the suffering of the Kabyle people is denied. True reconciliation requires the recognition of the injustice we have faced. Only by acknowledging the Kabylian genocide can we begin to heal and foster peaceful coexistence among all communities. Justice and recognition are the foundations for rebuilding and trust and ensuring Kabyle people can live in dignity and security. Despite systematic marginalization, Kayble have contributed immensely to Algeria’s economic, social, and cultural life and even its independence. Kabylia has been a center of intellectual, artistic, and civil engagement. Erasing Kabyle identity is not only a crime against its people, but for all of its society. Recognizing and valuing the contributions of minorities like the Kabyle people is essential for building inclusive and resilient societies that benefit from the richness of their diversity. Amplifying minority voices is crucial for peace-building and justice. The Kabyle people must be heard and included in all processes of accountability and reconciliation. The international community and the United Nations have a responsibility to ensure that the Kabyle people can participate fully in shaping their future, seeking truth, achieving justice, and self-determination. We call on the international community to recognize the Kabyle genocide, support Kabylia’s quest for truth and justice, and protect their dignity and rights. Thank you very much.
