(b)
Carry out a comprehensive study to assess the scope, nature and root causes
of the presence of street children in the country in order to develop a national policy for
prevention;
(c)
Ensure that the availability of shelters is sufficient, in Tbilisi as well as in
other parts of the country;
(d)
Develop a policy for family reunification where possible and in the best
interests of the child;
(e)
Conduct public awareness campaigns to address the stigma attached to street
children; and
(f)
UNICEF.
Collaborate with NGOs and seek technical assistance from, inter alia,
Sexual exploitation of children
66.
The Committee is concerned about the paucity of information provided with regard to
sexual exploitation and prostitution of children in the State party, and in particular, expresses
concern about the absence of:
(a)
Comprehensive legislation to prevent sexual exploitation of children;
(b)
Protection and/or recovery assistance and social reintegration for children who are
victims of sexual exploitation; and
(c)
Data on the extent and patterns of sexual exploitation and prostitution.
67.
The Committee recommends that the State party:
(a)

Adopt a comprehensive law to prevent sexual exploitation and prostitution of

Take appropriate legal and other measures to protect children who are
victims of sexual exploitation and prostitution, and prosecute perpetrators of sexual abuse
and exploitation;
(c)
Train law enforcement officials, social workers, judges and prosecutors on
how to receive, monitor and investigate complaints, and in a child-sensitive manner that
respects confidentiality;
(d)
Implement appropriate policies and programmes for the prevention,
recovery and social reintegration of child victims, including education and training as well
as psychological assistance and counselling, taking into consideration the Declaration and
Agenda for Action and the Global Commitment adopted at the first and second World
