Building on the groundwork by the UN Conference in December
2008, I do not need to emphasis on the importance of mother
language any further. Absence of education in mother language is
now the single most important factor to prove that there is no
foundation in the Islamic Republic of Iran for inclusive education,
social inclusion and the empowerment of the youth.
South Azerbaijanis are well-aware of their rights to education in
mother language and they know that the Iranian authorities are
doing nothing to fulfil their international obligations and the
meagre provision of their own constitutions. I am afraid the youth
in South Azerbaijan is not empowered but the Iranian policies
create linguistic barriers between children’s emotional world and
their parents. Without the education in mother language, parents
and children emotions are not channeled to better master
articulations skills.
