Association of World Citizens on Item VI
Female voice, in French.
Thank you Chair, sorry that I arrived a little bit late, but I think that perhaps I should tell you
about the people that work with Roma. I had a telephone conversation with a woman who has
given birth to a Roma child who did not have access to the health services that she should have
had. And I wanted to talk to you about Roma people but given that several speakers have
already touched on this issue, I think that it is very topical this year and I am very pleased to
see it is being taken seriously. When this Forum was being prepared a consultation process
took place amongst people who over the last few months went to the Forum on health issues.
These ladies thought that concept and the programme itself could significantly help participants
in this Forum. I would therefore like to ask people present here to get in touch with the
programme we think that social justice is a life or death question and there are great
differences between states in terms of health that is closely linked to social levels. There is a
disparity that is so great within countries as well as between them and this should not just
exist. These inequalities in the health field could be avoided conditions in which individuals
work and grown up and are educated and grow old, conditions in which people live and die
depend on social political and economic issues. This is why an effort of social justice, the WHO
in 2005 drew up a project and people presented as sometimes and in some extent have already
worked extensively on this program and we would like to express our will for all communities to
recognise that this could help them in the struggle. Thank you very much.
