Ezdina Thank you chairperson My name is Media Mahmoud, representative of Ezdina organisation. we are witnessing a clear failure of the international community to bild the capacities and empower Kurdish women who suffer from persecution. Kurdish women have become a symbol of resistance to religious extremism in Iran, and in Syria ,brave fighters in the face of ISIS terrorism. As for the three occupied Kurdish cities of Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, she is: either a woman suffering from torture inside the Turkisch occupier’s prisons , or a displaced woman living in camps. Kurdish women's fear of losing their security, life, and freedom has only grown in recent days with renewed threats of invasion. They await a similar fate to those already under Turkish control. Countless have had their rights violated , as documented by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry. Evidently, Kurdish women must be empowered to confront both the extremist factions affiliated with the Syrian opposition, as well as the Turkish army, which seeks revenge for the victory of Kurdish women over ISIS. The reality of Kurdish women can be summarized by saying that they are: victims of intersectional discrimination and conflicts. Yet they are also , fighters and ultimately, survivors. I will conclude by highlighting the fact that Kurdish women deserve a decent life within a Kurdish trinity that has become the rallying cry and slogan for humanity : woman, life, freedom (Jin Jiyan Azadi).
