Serbia on item V 9th session of the Forum on Minority Issues - ohchr 24/25 November 2016 Unites Nations - Geneva Thank you Mr Chairman. I would like to react to the statement by the Union of Hungarian Students of Vojvodina but first let us all remind us that the theme of the meeting is minorities crises situations and that the current topic of the session is recovery from crises. We have heard only a few statements, actually, on this. It is regretful, that the open platform of this Forum is used for allegations by some participants here. Serbia has well developed institutions for minority rights, good cooperation with national councils for minorities, and mechanisms for resolution any open issues. Statements like this do not contribute to the aim of the Forum and it raises questions on the necessity of streamlining of the mandate of the Forum in order to have constructive and meaningful discussion here. As for the statement of the participant from Vojvodina, as he pointed out, legal proceedings on the case of student admission in the faculty of law […] is underway. And that is the right place for this issue rather than the Forum for Minority Rights. Allegations on altering the ethnic composition in the province are absurd and they do not deserve a comment. Thank you Chairman.
