It is thus clear that immigrants from Algeria, other Maghrebi countries
(Morocco and Tunisia) and Black Africa experience the greatest discrimination
in hiring (see table 1), followed by individuals from Turkey and, to a lesser
extent, those from South-East Asia.

Other studies confirm this situation and demonstrate that the
unemployment level among young Maghrebis and Africans is considerably higher
than the average. 4 This is explained by the “suspicious appearance”, which
